The party says Tsipane wouldn’t be Premier if she wasn’t brave.
The ANC in Mpumalanga has wished Premier Refilwe Mtshweni-Tsipane a happy 47th birthday, describing her as a “brave leader”.
Spokeswoman Sasekani Manzini said they wished she could live long and continue to serve the people of Mpumalanga.
Tsipane – born Refilwe Maria Mtshweni in Lynnville, eMalahleni on 3 September 1973 – turned 47 years old on Thursday 3 September 2020.
She is the wife of Lawrence Tsipane…
Manzini said they wish her a happy birthday during the difficult time of Covid-19.
“And also her ability to lead as the first woman of the province, we honour her for that,” she said.
She said in her they can “see that women can actually lead the province”.
Tsipane eyes the ANC position of provincial chairperson left by DD Mabuza when he got elected deputy president in Nasrec on 18 December 2017.
In an ANC post doing the rounds on social media, Tsipane is described as someone who is the “voice of the voiceless” and the “defender of the marginalised”.
“You embody the fruits of the legacies of heroines of our struggles.
“As you see another year we wish you the fortitude of uMama Winnie Mandela, the wisdom of Charlotte Maxeke and the bravery of Nokuthula Simelane”.
