The ex-lover obtained the order against the man in November 2021.
A 24-year-old man from Wakkerstroom in Mpumalanga has been sentenced to 3 years for violating a protection order to beat up his ex-girlfriend.
Mduduzi Hlophe assaulted the ex-lover on 26 December 2021, just a month after she obtained the protection order.
The woman had been in an abusive relationship with Hlophe after he assaulted her numerous times before she approached the court to seek the order against him.
The order outlined that Hlophe should never assault nor communicate with her for the rest of his life but just a day after Christmas last year. Hlophe did just the opposite; he assaulted her then went into hiding.

“Hlophe was sought by police but they could not find him until 1 January 2022,” police spokesman Brigadier Selvy Mohlala said.
He was sentenced to 3 years behind bars last week by the Wakkerstroom Magistrates Court.
“Hlophe never applied for bail and remained in custody since 1 January 202 until the day he was sentenced to three years direct imprisonment for contravention of a protection order,” Mohlala said.
Mpumalanga police boss Lieutenant-General Semakaleng Manamela has welcomed Hlophe’s sentencing.
“It is about time people understand that protection orders are there to protect the vulnerable. Anyone who violates that will have to face the full might of the law,” she said.
“Our communities should make effective use of the system put by the government for their protection,” said Manamela.
