She was tied with a cellphone charger before being beaten up and then robbed of her belongings.
A neighbour has narrated how she found Gogo Esther Mahlangu bleeding on her face after a robbery ordeal at her Siyabuswa house the past weekend.
The cops are currently searching for the man who entered the 87-year-old famous painter’s house on Saturday afternoon 19 March 2022 to assault and rob her of her gun and money.
Neighbour Nakabini Masango said they were the first to discover that the granny had been robbed.
“I was at home with my children,” Nakabini said.
“I later asked the children to go and check up on Mahlangu as we usually do because she stays alone. After they had left, I heard Mahlangu screaming for help. As I stepped out of the house, my daughter Hlobisile returned screaming that Mahlangu was bleeding,” she said.
Nakabini said the thug put a cloth around Gogo’s mouth so that when she screamed she could not be heard.
“She was crying, narrating how her attacker bound her hands with a cellphone charger and repeatedly beat her up,” said Nakabini.
Premier Refilwe Mtshweni-Tsipane Wednesday this week visited her and said very soon the thug will be arrested as cops are hot on his heels.
The cops are asking anyone with information about the man who robbed the Gogo to call 071 353 6955, 08600 10111 or the free 112 on their cellphones and anonymously report the suspect.
