The reason why beneficiaries had to reapply for the grant was due to a change in the regulatory framework under which the grant is provided to members of the public.

Sassa will continue paying the R350 grant in mid-June, it has announced.

Early this year President Cyril Ramaphosa extended the grant to March 2023.

Social development minister Lindiwe Zulu said her government had already budgeted to carry out the payments until March 2023 in line with the President’s announcement.

But in April 2022, Sassa stopped paying out the grant and asked beneficiaries to re-apply…

Now Sassa has announced they will continue paying the R350 in mid-June.

The reason why beneficiaries had to re-apply for the grant was due to a change in the government regulatory framework under which the grant is provided to members of the public.

This followed the suspension of the state of disaster put in place to fight the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The R350 grant had been provided under the disaster management act that governed the Covid-19 lockdown era.

Now, it will be paid as a social security grant…

Sources claim that Zulu’s department is planning to cut down the number of beneficiaries considering that it has budget for just 10-million people.

Beneficiaries who get more than R350 income per month will not get the money anymore!
