The African National Congress respects the cops, a spokesman has said.
Nkangala regional spokesman Sello Matshoga said the party in the region has also instituted internal investigation and wanted those who broke the law to be brought to book.
Earlier this month Delmas ward councillor Maria Sepenyane approached the Delmas police and laid charges of fraud against the ANC in the area after an alleged fake letter was submitted to the Victor Khanye local municipality and IEC that she was resigning as ward councillor barely 26 days she was elected.
Sepenyane’s alleged signing of the letter to quit as ward councillor comes after the process that led to her being a ward councillor candidate was disputed by community members after it emerged community members chose Mishack Mthombeni in that community, not her.

In an affidavit dated 2 September 2016 and made with Delmas cops, Sepenyane asks cops to investigate and arrest those who faked and submitted the letter to authorities.
“The letter attached and the signature that were received by the municipal manager of Victor Khanye, Mr M. Mahlangu, and also sent to the IEC election manager Mr. M. Mbamba in Delmas are fraudulent documents,” she said in the affidavit.

In the alleged fake letter, which 013NEWS saw over the weekend, Sepenyane tender her resignation and thanks the ANC “for giving me the chance and deploying me as ward councillor for Victor Khanye local municipality ward 6”.
“This serves as my resignation letter as ward councillor of Victor Khanye local municipality with immediate effect,” she allegedly wrote.
In another letter, Nkangala regional secretary Leah Khoza acknowledges receipt of the letter of resignation “from the following ward councillor of Victor Khanye local municipality, Maria Sepenyane”.
“The municipal manager will be advised to declare the vacancy and the by-elections will be scheduled,” said Khoza to Victor Khanye manager MJ Mahlangu.
Matshoga said: “We respect the police investigation into the matter and we say whoever did this should be dealt with according according to the law. And we support comrade Maria, she’s our own and that’s why we have also instituted an internal investigation to determine who did it”.
