The guards were doing their work…collecting and delivering money as always.
Then four thugs arrived and waited for them to come out of the building and robbed them of the bag of money.
But the four men didn’t know the bag was empty and only discovered this once they had the bag in their possession.
The incident occurred at the Mbombela local municipality in Mpumalanga on Monday.

Provincial police spokesman Brigadier Leonard Hlathi said the four men were driving a Chevrolet Spark and waited for the guards to come out.
“The security officials were walking to their vehicle when three of the suspects robbed them of a firearm as well as an empty money bag,” said Hlathi.
“One of the guards managed to run to the G4S van where he took a firearm and fired shots at the suspects”.
Hlathi said during this shootout with the thugs, one of them was injured and “had to be dragged into the vehicle by his accomplices.”
“The suspects fled in the Chevrolet Spark in an unknown direction, taking the empty bag and the firearm with them”.
