The leader of the Economic Freedom Fighters visited eMalahleni over the past weekend and says he was shocked at what he saw.
“What I saw there was disgrace,” Collen Sedibe says.
“All the roads from inner Town to Kwa-Guqa and Extension 14 have pit holes of a pit toilet size, not pot holes,” he claimed.
“The whole town and the townships infrastructure is decayed,” adding that this was due to the ‘corruption’ of Nkangala ANCYL chairman Mduduzi Mswati Nkosi and eMalahleni local municipality mayor Lindiwe Ntshalintshali.
“Mduduzi Mswati Nkosi and Lindiwe Ntshalintshali the mayor are busy stealing and embezzling the municipality funds,” Sedibe said.
“Ntshalintshali has hired body guards for her mother through the municipality finances,” said Sedibe and Mswati “is part of the syndicate that continues to steal the municipal land and sell to private developers with exuberant prices”.
Sedibe is not the first leader to accuse Mswati of corruption.
Late last year his deputy Tsekiso Machike launched a snide attack on him in a press statement, calling on ANCYL members in the Nkangala region to not join a march to the Kusile power station, said to have been organised by Mswati for his own interest.
Sedibe said Mswati, who is also the Nkangala district municipality’s member of the mayoral executive committee for local economic development, is a “beneficiary of of the corrupt system”.
“We are closing the ranks soon we will be on top of them,” said Sedibe.
When contacted for comment the mayor response was: “it’s not true, my mom doesn’t have bodyguards,” adding that the only security was at home “when we were attacked during land invasion in Phola led by EFF”.
Mswati did not respond to texts messages sent.
