Chuene, a provincial organizer of the party, is also with the eHlanzeni district municipality serving as an EFF councillor.

The EFF on Monday reacting to Chuene’s arrest called on all their members to observe and respect road laws and not find themselves on the wrong side of the law, especially as we approach the festive season, where road deaths rises in South Africa.

“This message also goes to all South African citizens and to our members, we say they must not succumb to the pressure of meetings and drive at high speed, they must make sure they are on time always,” Collen Sedibe, the leader of the party in the province, said.
