A memorial service was held at the old Bassline in Joburg’s Newtown Tuesday afternoon. Another one will be held at the Mmabatho Convention Centre in Mahikeng on Thursday.
Lerato Sengadi was not the wife of Hip Hop Pantsula, according to his family.
She left the Hip Hop star last year and moved out of their Johannesburg house, HHP’s family said.
In a statement, family spokesman Nkululeko Ncana said it was all lie that the woman was HHP’s (real name Jabulani Tsambo) widow.
“I would like to put this matter to rest and categorically state on record that Ms Sengadi is not, and was never married to Jabulani. She is not his wife!” Ncana said.
Referring to her as “Jabu’s ex-fiancée”, Ncana said Sengadi moved out of HHP’s house and also out of his life “on her own accord last year. She and her mother were requested to desist from spreading this falsehood,” Ncana said.
“As things stand, the Tsambo family reserves its rights should Ms Sengadi continue to peddle these falsehoods,” Ncana warned.
He said when she heard of his death, Sengadi went to HHP’s house and demanded ID, wallet, policy documents and house keys “as [the] family [was] trying to grapple with Jabulani’s death”.
“Ms Sengadi demanded house keys that she is not entitled to. Before arriving at the house, she had also demanded that Jabulani’s domestic worker send her a picture of the medication [the helper had been administered by a doctor after she discovered the star dead in his bedroom].”
HHP, who was found dead at his Johannesburg house on the Wednesday afternoon of 24 October, will be buried in Mmabatho, Mahikeng the coming Saturday, 3 November 2018.
It is reported that Lobolo processes were initiated two years ago in Soweto, but was never finalised because “Lerato abandoned the process and moved out of the house, taking her belongings.”
The Tsambo family will now hire 24-hour security to ensure nobody enters the musician’s Randpark Ridge home.
