The cops say the 43-year old man who is not yet named until he appears at the Leslie Magistrates Court is no longer with the SAPS.
He was charged with possession of a stolen firearm, illegal possession of police uniform and dealing in drugs in the area of Leslie, and investigations continue on his dealings with the criminal syndicates.
“Information was received and followed up resulting in a search and seizure operation at his house,” Hawks spokeswoman Dinero Sekgotodi said in a statement.
“During the search, a firearm, police uniform and drugs with a street value of R500 000.00 were found at the house and were seized,” she said.
The gun is a 9mm Baretta and was found in his possession. It was stolen at the Leslie police station.
The details of why he stopped being a reservist will appear in court soon.
