During a raid the kids were found with all sorts of contraband not allowed by South African law.
Pupils at a Barberton school carry knives to school and this was discovered during a police raid at the school.
The kids were found during school hours with boxes of matches stashed with compressed dagga as well as knives and cigarettes.
“Some of the learners caught with dagga provided information about their supplier,” community safety spokesman Moeti Mmusi said.
Mmusi said the information finally led to the arrest of two drug dealers – found with two 20litres buckets of dagga.
They are due to court soon…
MEC Vusi Shongwe said he was honestly disappointed that township schools have degenarated to that level.

“Our programmes will continue to be rolled out at schools across the province. We remain relentless in our endeavours to make our schools safer for effective learning and teaching,” said Shongwe.
He also blamed those who supply the the learners with drugs and said “parents should help in pointing out those who corrupt their children”.
“These children are our future, we should therefore not surrender our country’s future to heartless and unscrupulous people who do not care about our country’s future,” Shongwe said.
The department will host a Safety Imbizo in the Barberton area Saturday 10 September 2022.
