The firebrand leader of the Economic Freedom Fighters in Mpumalanga, Collen Sedibe, will cast his vote in Mbombela on 03 August and his party has its sights set on no less than eight of the 17 municipalities in Mpumalanga, the party’s provincial secretary saidTuesday.
He will vote at the White River Community hall in ward 30 at 09:00.
Alfred Skosana said his party will surprise many people in the province when they take over eight of the 17 municipalities of Mpumalanga during this year’s local government elections.
“We’ll surprise much of the voters and people in the province. We are expected to be king-makers in not less than eight municipalities. That’s all I can say,” Skosana said.
Skosana himself will cast hisvote at Hlanganani Secondary School in ward 9, in Dr J.S Moroka’s Kameelrivier area.
“At the current moment we were concentrating all our energy on the special votes,” said Skosana, adding that was the reason Sedibe was not able to answer phone calls, as he was busy.
Last week Mpumalangapolice arrested andcharged Sedibe with public violence and “staging protest without authorisation” after he led a march demanding the reinstatement of 300 Banana farm-workers in Komati who were fired last year by the Umbhaba Banana Estate for wanting to be unionised.
