The civic organisation thanks him for forging alliance unity in the Mpumalanga province, calling on other provinces to emulate DD’s achievement.
The South African Civic Organisation in the Mpumalanga province supports ANC provincial leader David Mabuza to ascend to the presidency, deputising Cyril Ramaphosa when the ANC convenes its 54th national conference in December 2017.
This was revealed by the civic organisation’s provincial leader James Skhosana during the ANC’s provincial policy conference this past weekend but has also been confirmed by secretary Mike Soko.
JJ Skhosana thanked Mabuza for doing all he can to unite the alliance and said as SANCO in the Mpumalanga province they feel there’s a need for him to ascend to the ANC’s national office.
“It is our wish as SANCO that Mpumalanga should be represented in the top 6,” Skhosana said to thunderous applause from ANC delegates at the Mbombela stadium on Saturday morning (17 Jun).
“It is our wish but to achieve it we need to do the right thing,” he said while on stage delivering the civic organisation’s message at the policy conference of the ANC.
Secretary Mike Soko confirmed Skhosana was referring to the position of deputy president.
“Look, our position is clear,” Soko said on Tuesday morning.
“Nationally, SANCO resolved to support comrade Ramaphosa to be president and as Mpumalanga we support comrade DD to be his deputy,” he said.
“Let me repeat this, we want comrade DD Mabuza to be comrade Cyril’s deputy and we want nobody else,” Soko said.
