She says this time they are supporting a slate that will bring back the integrity of the ANC.

Nkangala ANC secretary Leah Khoza has said a mistake to support a male-dominated slate ahead of conference will be solved, but not now – later.

She said they are supporting the 4-male and 1 female slate because this is in fact the leadership that will bring the ANC back to life…

“It ends after this conference but come next conference the ANCWL will determine the terms of that conference where we will want to see women in leadership because as women we have got capacity in our ranks,” the regional firebrand said.

She urged branches to reach out to conference and vote to bring back the ANC “alive”.

“We must make sure that the ANC in Mpumalanga comes back alive because the status quo can no longer remain,” Khoza said.

They are opposed to deputy president DD Mabuza’s micro-management of the Mpumalanga ANC from Gauteng and his choice of Premier Refilwe Mtshweni-Tsipane as a candidate for the ANC chairpersonship.

Khoza said the ANC of Nelson Mandela is the one they know and is the one that “understands that contestation is not a train smash”.

“Contestation is something that must happen so that the elected leaders will be on their toes and to understand that we once fought for them to be in those positions,” she said.

She shared the stage with Chirwa, Nkangala ANCYL leader Bobo Mtsweni and Mashilo whil commemorating the life of struggle veteran Harry Gwala in memorial lecture at the Ackerville stadium in eMalahleni.
