A 27-year-old man has been arrested and charged for the murder of a16-year-old girl in Mpumalanga.
The stripped body of the child was found next to the MpumalangaStadium in Ermelo’s Wesselton township last week Saturday morning.
The hunt for her killer began afterwards and the man was arrested on Wednesday.
Captain Carla Prinsloo of the Ermelo police said the man, who remainsin custody, was charged with both murder and rape and will return nextweek Thursday (25 August) to the Ermelo Magistrates Court for formalbail application.

Prinsloo thanked the community of Wesselton township for informationthat led to the arrest of the suspected man.
He added police were able to identify the girl and found her family.
“She lived with only her grand-mother. It’s an unfortunate situation,”Prinsloo said.
